Theory
Carol J. Clover’s ‘Final girl’ theory from her book “Men, Women and Chainsaws”:
- Killers in horror tend to have either issue with their childhood or are sexually disturbed.
- Female killers tend to have gender confusion (Mother in Friday the 13th)
- Sadism which means enjoy inflicting pain onto others.
- Masochism which means enjoys having pain inflicted on them.
- Walls that seem safe and keep the killer out soon become a prison keeping you trapped with the killer.
Example - Halloween (2007)
Halloween (2007) is a good example of Carol J. Clover’s theory because the guy who is the killer had problems in his childhood which is the reason why he starts killing when he was older because he has been doing it his whole life.
